JEWELLERY UNLEASHED!

Writer: Sim LuttinSim Luttin

There is an exciting exhibition currently on tour in Europe, Jewellery Unleashed! Having just shown at the the Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem in The Netherlands, the exhibition is about to open in Zurich at the Museum Bellerive. I have two mourning brooches in this exhibition, which features the work of over 80 international artists.

Each piece in the exhibition is a one-off and "bears the unmistakable signature of the person who made it, relates to visual art, fashion and design. Worn as art works, these pieces of jewellery explore the boundaries of what is actually wearable and through their shape or size indeed often conflict with the body."

Jewellery Unleashed! is an exhibition of the Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem in collaboration with the Museum Bellerive.

Sim respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit art. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider Melbourne community and beyond. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge that I work and live on the country on which Members and Elders of The Wurundjeri people and their forebears have been custodians for many centuries and on which Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. I acknowledge their living culture and unique role in this region's life.
