Each new year brings with it the idea of hope: for something new, fresh and different from the previous year. January is filled with possibilities and, with it, the promise of new opportunities and creativity. 2021 will be an interesting year as it springboards from a challenging 2020 — into what is anyone's guess as Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc worldwide until a vaccine is released.

New art jewellery will be created by reflecting on earlier work and explorations along with returning to nature as a source of inspiration. Photography will continue to play a big part in informing my practice, as well as being integrated into the final installation.

So watch this space and in the meantime, enjoy images captured this year in the Victorian Alpine Region.

Sim respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I create and exhibit art. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, as well as to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider Melbourne community and beyond. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. I acknowledge that I work and live on the country on which Members and Elders of The Wurundjeri people and their forebears have been custodians for many centuries and on which Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. I acknowledge their living culture and unique role in this region's life.
